Data Science and Weight Loss

I’m actually really excited to talk about this . It has been in the works for awhile now. Weekends and evenings of non-stop hacking with a two week push to get this out the door. It feels like it has been forever since I had this idea. And now, here it is! It is Skinnier Me!

What I’m talking about is a little web app that I’ve been developing of course. People that know me, will know that I am overweight. So I wanted a tool that would automatically take in my data and customize advice just for me, and tell me what I should be doing to lose some weight. That’s why I haven’t posted anything for the past two weeks.

I tried a lot of different calorie counting apps. None of them did exactly what I wanted. So I set out to build one. And build and build. I’ve been using my development version of this app for the past three weeks and I am down about 9 lbs, since I started using it, as of this writing.

Yeah like 9 actual, real life, pounds. That’s no where close to be where I need to be, but it is a good start.

I’ve gotten the app to a state where I deem it to be usable. And so I want to get it in front of people and see what they think. So far, I only have a web version available. It isn’t a full featured calorie counter yet, but if you are interested in losing some weight, I would love to get some feedback from you!

It does, however, do real data science to customize a weight loss program just for you. All you have to do is to start counting calories.
